New Canaan High School

The Class of 1959 - 50th Reunion!

Inside every old person there’s a young person saying, “What the hell happened?”

Join us, come and see for yourself.

October 9th, 10th & 11th, 2009

We are planning our best reunion yet!  If you’ve been to previous reunions you already know how great they are.  If you haven’t been before, now’s your chance to find out.  51 classmates have already signed up, so lots of your old friends are already coming.  Lots of significant others are coming too, all anxious to see the characters in all those stories you have been telling for the past 50 years.

The gathering begins Friday the 9th at 6:30 to 11:00 at Joe and Debbie Rucci’s.  Heavy hors d’oeuvres and food for grazing, with wine, beer and sodas to quench your thirst.  Musical performance by our own Bill Bedford ’59 and the Green Mountain Boys.

On Saturday the 10th from 3:00 til 5:00 we gather at the New Canaan Library’s “Mable Lamb Room” for our Art Festival. Light refreshments – artwork, poetry reading and viewing books by our classmates and possibly some musical reflections and the Choraleers reenactments.

Saturday evening is the buffet dinner at the New Canaan Country club where some favorite teachers will join us.  Joe Rucci will be our master of ceremonies.

• Cocktail hour begins at 6:00.  NEW!

• Class picture at 7:00.

• Dinner at 7:30.

We want to remember those classmates who are no longer with us…  Amos Musilli will lead the remembrances.

Pete Dixon has prepared a CD of our favorite 50’s music for listening and dancing.

There is an optional Brunch on Sunday the 11th at the Marriott Courtyard (Route 7 and the Merritt)  If you are interested, join us from 7:00AM til Noon, no reservations required.  (Hotel charges $12.95 for the brunch.  Not included in the Reunion Fees.)  Don't forget to make your room reservations at the Marriott by 9/25/09 to hold the $79 block room rate.

Yes, I (we) wouldn't miss it for the world, and we are coming!

And A Very Important Note Below:

Low on bucks?

We’re tying to get as many classmates as possible to attend.  Who knows when we’ll ever get to do it again?  So here’s a special note to those concerned about the cost of the weekend.  Through the generosity of the members of the organizing committees and others, a general fund has been created to defray the cost of attending these events for classmates in need.  If you are thinking of coming but worry about finances, write/call/e-mail Dave Emmerich that the $125 for one person or $250 for two people be subsidized by the general fund.  No one will know except you and Dave.

Or Got big bucks?

To support the general fund with a donation, please send a check made out to NCHS 50th Reunion to Dave with a note on the memo line.
